Leica Cine Lenses Show Outstanding Optical Performance

“We are happy to announce that our Leica Summilux-C Lenses show exceptionally good optical performance on all 35mm and electronic Cine cameras” says Alfred Schopf, former CEO of ARRI Camera and now CEO of Leica Camera AG in Solms. After announcing the market entry of Leica Camera into the motion picture industry with Band Pro at NAB in April 2010, there was a big hype around these new Cine lenses. The Leica team had to make sure that the lenses were compatible with all major camera suppliers. For this reason a lot of intensive internal and external testing was done and the feedback was clear-cut:
“To put it simply, these lenses show brilliant pictures on every camera tested.” continues Alfred Schopf with a smile.
At IBC in Amsterdam this year’s visitors will be able to take a closer look at the Leica Summilux-C lenses at their distributor Band Pro’s booth on various PL mount cameras such as Sony F35, Sony SRW-9000PL, Arri Alexa, Arricam 435...and even the new RED EPIC. Ted Schilowitz from RED will be providing live demonstrations of a working EPIC camera and Leica Summilux-C lens every day (except Saturday) from 1pm to 3pm.
The ramp-up of volume production is running at full speed and delivery is scheduled for the 4th quarter of 2010 for the first 8 focal lengths (18,21,25,35,40,50,75,100mm) of the lens series.
